Hello everyone, I have a possible solution to very popular "THUMBWHEEL SWITCH" problem that seems to plague these CAT skid-steers. I have managed to REPAIR the one in my 226b. I have also repaired 2 other switches for a couple members of this forum. One member had a 229d and the other had a 257b.
Skid-steer Repair said: It appears this machine is a “drive by wire” and doesn’t have actual hydraulic pilot controls. It seems the LH Jiysric has an X and Y axis that is an INPUT to the ECU, with the pumps electric pilot valves/Swash valves being the ECU Output. the part number for the skid steer is ( 216-6163 MOTOR GP-GEAR ). that is the hydraulic fan motor. however the problem that i have atm is the red figure 8 seal that is just below the top of the motor and below it. attached is a picture of the broken seal. if anyone knows where i can get that seal i would really appreciate it. i mean (REALLY . Cat diesel tech here DPF can just be reset in CAT et in about 5 minutes. 3000 maintenance interval and I don't recall CAT paying for a "maintenance item". What I have done is just reset the interval if the machine is performing regens as requested and coming up to temperature. The kicker is too frequent regens. Hydraulic Fan problems Hi 246c 2010 Fan motor leaked out of top shaft seal not bad but was leaking , i fitted a new complete seal kit it was working but seemedto me to be moving to slow even when i unpluggedthe solid made no difference
